The leading innovation is the introduction of Cyclonic Action. The Cyclonic Action built into the 12, 9.6 and 7.2 volt models is a technology initially developed for mains powered vacuum cleaners, adapted to provide maximum suction in hand held cleaners. By spinning air that enters the Dustbuster® at high speed, the cyclonic action causes larger pieces of debris to drop into the dustbowl rather than be caught on the filter surface. This helps keep the filter clearer for longer and optimises suction power.
Moreover, a new cleaning mechanism a Filter Cleaning Wheel features in the 9.6 and 12 volt Dustbuster® to optimise cleaning performance. Turning the wheel shakes dust from the filter back into the dustbowl without having to touch it and because the filter stays cleaner for longer, suction performance and battery life is extended.
The 12, 9.6 and 7.2 volt Black & Decker® Dustbuster® range also now have translucent coloured windows in the dustbowls. These make it easy to see whether they need emptying while keeping the debris discreet and avoiding the loss of cleaning power experienced when units are full.
The whole new range also features the special Dustbuster® double filtration system. This works by deflecting large particles from the hard, outer filter directly into the dustbowl, while smaller particles pass through and are trapped on a new fine inner filter with a more efficient fluted design. This keeps filter clogging to a minimum and makes the most of the appliances suction power. Capacity of the Dustbuster® bowls has also been increased by 20% allowing for longer use before emptying.
The range is conveniently cordless so the appliances can be used, and recharged, anywhere in the home; and they can be wall-mounted or stored on work surfaces. A new charging indicator light helps ensure that a Dustbuster® is always charged before use; while the exhaust is now under the appliance, improving comfort and convenience. Crevice tools and upholstery brushes mounted on-board the appliances ensure that they are always ready to use for the task at hand.
Black & Decker® has also launched improved versions of the 2.4 and 3.6 volt Dustbuster®. These affordable appliances are great for those who want to try handheld cordless cleaning before graduating to higher voltage models. They are now more stylish, come a choice of contemporary colours; and can be wall-hung or surface mounted during charging.
