In its drive to make DIY easier for everyone, Black&Decker® has launched a new generation of its popular Esprit® drill, complete with a companion metal pipe and live wire detector. So now even the most DIY shy individual can undertake drilling tasks around the home with more confidence.

Part of the easiDIY range, the new Esprit® range of cordless drills combines sleek modern design with optimum performance. A foolproof straight drill indicator enables the homeowner to hold the drill at 90o, ensuring perfect straight drilling every time.

The new Esprit® drill also has a handy detachable metal pipe and live wire detector, so that the consumer can drill with confidence in the knowledge that there are no potentially lethal surprises behind the wall.

Like the rest of range, the new Esprit® drill has a slide battery pack that not only makes for a more compact design but also ensures a more balanced distribution of weight during use. Recharging is complete in just three hours for the standard models and in just one hour for the version with hammer action.

However, the real distinguishing feature of the new Esprit® is the handy detachable metal pipe and live wire detector. This pocket sized device, in the familiar easiDIY silver livery detects metal and live wires behind the wall. For convenience it attaches to the side of the battery pack so it is readily at hand when required.

To use the detector it must first be set to the correct mode either for metal or live current, ensuring that it is well away from either an AC current or any metal object.

Once the sensitivity dial has been set, the unit should be slowly moved over the area to be tested. Before setting to work it is always advisable to run the detector over an electrical switch or a metal object to ensure that the unit is working correctly. A bleep and a green light indicate the presence of metal pipe work, while a bleep and a red light indicates the presence of live electrical wiring. Operated by a 9v AA battery (supplied) this handy device helps confident drilling at all times for total piece of mind.

The Esprit® cordless drill comes in a tough carrying case that also holds the battery charger and metal pipe and live wire detector, so that everything is conveniently stored in one place.

The Black&Decker® Esprit® cordless drill with pipe and wire detector is available from Argos, Homebase, Focus and all other good DIY stores nationwide, details as follows:
