For those in need of a drill robust enough to tackle even the most demanding household DIY tasks, Black&Decker® has launched StormTM, a range of powerful high specification corded drills that combine optimum power and reliability with ease of use and a clean modern design.

With its much-improved specification StormTM is built to last and offers dependable operation time after time, representing not only great value for money but also a real investment for the serious DIYer.

StormTM is the first Black&Decker® drill to use Roll TechTM, a rolling bearing design that vastly improves the drills performance by reducing internal friction. Roll TechTM also helps increase the life of the drill, since the needle or ball bearings used last much longer than the sleeve bearings used in many other drills. In addition, the KR70 range with its metal gearbox and improved airflow, offers increased motor overload protection, so it can handle sustained heavier loads without any damage to the drill.

With its ergonomic modern design, StormTM looks as good as it performs. A 730-watt motor on the KR70 range sets new standards for domestic power tools; and there is a KR60 600-watt range that is powerful enough for most household tasks. The increase in power means that StormTM drills, with their top operating speed of 3000 rpm, are more robust and better able to cope with sustained heavy use without overheating the motor ensuring a longer working life.

The StormTM range also has a range of features that makes them easier to use and results in a professional job every time. For instance, the Quick ConnectTM system, which is only available from Black&Decker®, allows the user to switch quickly and easily between drilling and screw driving, while TwistlokTM allows the quick keyless changing of drill bits.

The special version of StormTM available only at B&Q incorporates a straight level indicator that tells the user when the drill is at 90o, ensuring accurate and professional drilling every time. In addition, a new forward/reverse button located above the operating trigger on all models makes for quicker and easier one handed operation.

The KR60 range has a mid handle for greater comfort when drilling, while the KR70 range with its all metal gear case and chuck, has an end handle design that comes into its own when tackling more heavy-duty tasks. Both models also have a side handle that doubles as a handy storage place for drill bits, while the lock on button ensures maximum drilling stability. Both the KR70 and KR60 ranges also have a hammer function for effortless drilling into masonry.

Within both the 600 and 730 watt StormTM range, there is the choice of the following: a standard StormTM drill, a StormTM with a kit box, a StormTM with a straight level indicator and kit box and a StormTM with a Quick ConnectTM system and a kit box. So whatever the drilling task at hand, there is sure to be a StormTM drill to tackle it with ease.
