Its Official Black & Decker® in Slough is One of the 50 Best Workplaces in the UK

Black & Decker are proud to announce that, in association with the Financial Times, the Great Place to Work Institute has officially named the company one of the top 50 places to work in the UK.

This is the first time Black & Decker has entered the competition, in which more than 2000 organisations across the UK were invited to participate. Not only did Black & Decker manage to break into the Top 50 at their first attempt, but they are also the first arm of Black & Decker worldwide to receive such a prestigious accolade in this manner.

The Great Place to Work Institute evaluates all of the entries by asking employees to complete an on-line survey, and management to submit a Culture Audit to define exactly what distinguishes them from other companies as a great place to work. Other companies to be listed in the Top 50 were Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Marks & Spencer and Virgin Mobile.

Jo Yarranton, Director of Human Resources at Black & Decker enthused, We are ecstatic that in our first attempt at the contest, our employees voted us one of the Top 50 Great Places to Work. The competition is extremely high, which makes our success all the more valuable. We are extremely proud of our workforce and very much believe they are the driving power behind our success. As a result, we will be looking meticulously at their comments in the survey to see how we can make Black & Decker an even greater place to work.

Les Ireland, Black & Deckers President in EMEA added, "There is no question that the people make the difference in our company. We put the best people into our organisation to ensure that we are not only an extremely successful company but one that is among the best to work for in the UK."
