Black & Decker® has introduced a new range of measurement and detection devices that bring a new level of accuracy to project preparation around the home.
Accurate measurement of materials or a space reduces the risk of mistakes, or waste, and contributes toward perfect finishes and Black & Decker® has addressed this need with the launch of two great pieces of equipment: the powered ATM100 AutoTapeTM and the BDM100 Sonic Distance Measure.
The AutoTapeTM is a versatile battery-operated 7.0m measuring tape that extends and retracts under its own power, making it perfect for someone working by themselves or single-handed use. An easy-to-use switch operates the tape, which will stay rigid under extension for a minimum of 2m. This makes it ideal for a whole host of measuring tasks from measuring doors and windows, shelf and other timber lengths and wallpaper. It also has a comfortable grip and a belt-clip and takes replaceable alkaline batteries in the popular AA size.
More demanding measurements can be achieved with the BDM100 Sonic Distance Measure. It is simple to use and is brilliant for calculating linear, square and cubic metreages whether from wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling or for the area of an entire room.
With an effective range of 12m, its advanced technology makes operation a simple matter of point and shoot while a laser pointer projects onto the opposite surface for easy reference.
The measuring head pivots around 900 for either floors or ceilings, and measurements can be displayed in either metric or imperial values, as appropriate, and be taken from the front or the back of the unit as convenient.
For enhanced fixing accuracy and safety around the home, Black & Decker® has also introduced a series of handy pocket detectors for locating metal pipes, live wires or timber studs in dry walls. The BDS100 is designed for locating studs in walls to an impressive depth of 38mm. Simply offer the detector to the wall to allow it to calibrate itself, and approach the desired fixing point from both left and right. This will indicate both edges of a stud allowing the fixing to be centred, and so allows the firm and secure hanging of anything from shelves, pictures and cupboards.
Alternatively, the BDS200 locates the presence of metal pipes or live AC wires avoiding the possibility of embarrassing and damaging bursts, or the risk of hitting electrical cables. Following a rapid calibration, live AC detection is operational and pipework detection becomes instant. Where metal pipe, live wire and stud detection is required, the BDS300 combines all functions in one compact, convenient unit.
Accurate measurement and safe siting of fixings is crucial for successful home improvement projects, and Black & Decker® makes achieving these easy work now thanks to the introduction of its collection of clever, yet simple, measuring and detection equipment.
